## Getting Started

After activating Aegra Site Monitor, you will be redirected to the setup wizard. The wizard walks you through:

1. Enabling monitoring modules (activity log, broken link scanning, admin bar widget)
2. Optionally installing the MaxMind GeoLite2 database for IP geolocation
3. Activating a Pro licence if you have one

Once complete you will land on the **Dashboard** — your central view of site health.

## Dashboard

The dashboard gives you a quick overview across all modules.

**Hero pills** at the top show at-a-glance counts for published content, broken links, users, and pending plugin updates. Each pill is colour-coded — green means all clear, amber means attention needed, red means action required.

**The card grid** shows a summary from each module: System, Database, Activity Log, Broken Links, Content, Media, Users, Performance, and Plugins. Each card has a direct link to its full page.

## Activity Log

Aegra Site Monitor logs admin activity automatically once the module is enabled in Settings.

**What is logged:**
- Admin logins and logouts
- Plugin and theme installs, activations, deactivations, and deletions
- User role changes
- Password resets
- Post publish, update, and delete actions

**Reading the log:**
Sessions are shown in an accordion — click a session row to expand and see individual actions. The filter bar lets you search by user or action type.

**Clearing the log:**
Use the **Clear Log** button in the sidebar. This permanently removes all stored entries.

> Pro: Full audit trail with deeper action tracking, IP history, and suspicious activity detection.

## Broken Links

Aegra Site Monitor can scan your site for broken links in post and page content.

**Running a scan:**
Click **Start Scan** on the Broken Links page. The scanner works in batches — a progress bar shows how far through the scan it is. Large sites may take a few minutes.

**Results:**
Each link shows its status code, the post it was found in, and the last time it was checked. Broken links are highlighted in red.

**Rechecking a link:**
Click **Recheck** on any row to re-test a single link without running a full scan.

> Pro: Scheduled automatic scans, external link checking, and scan reports by email.

- Old drafts (unpublished for more than 90 days)
- Front page and blog page status
- Permalink structure

> Pro: Orphaned content detection, SEO structure checks, content freshness tracking, and full broken link scanning across internal and external links.

## Settings

**Site Monitoring:**
Set your site name and timezone for display purposes.

**Monitoring Modules:**
Enable or disable the Activity Log, Broken Link Scanner, and Admin Bar Widget independently.

**MaxMind GeoIP:**
Aegra Site Monitor uses the free MaxMind GeoLite2 database for IP-to-country lookups on the Traffic page. You need a free MaxMind account to download it. Enter your Account ID and licence key, then click **Download Database**. The database is stored on your server — no data is sent to MaxMind during normal operation.
